Backpacking: Trinity Alps, Caribou Lake

2006 - September - 09/10
"Smoky" hike in a deserted mountain range...
[Wikipedia] The Trinity Alps are mountains in Northern California. They are located to the northwest of Redding, California. Elevations there range from 1,350 feet to over 9,002 feet at Thompson Peak. The Trinity Alps are situated within the Klamath mountain range, which lies between the Coastal Range and the Cascade Range, which lies further to the east. They are noted for their scenic views and alpine environment, which differ from those found in the Sierra Nevada, the Coastal Range, or the Cascades. 35 permanent bodies of snow and several tiny glaciers dot the highest peaks of the Alps.

Double birthday toast, God of Grapes, Kir Royal, Pisco sour and Jesus

2006 - August - 18
A little bit like Jesus had his birthday just on Christmas, Maru and I are having our birthday just the same day (almost). To mark the bizarreness of this coincidence, which falls exactly the day when the Mayan God of Grape is celebrated, we've decided to honor that triple fortuity with a grape-based concoction degustation: Pisco sour and Kir Royal. Friday, August 18. At our place. 8:13pm sharp, when the last ray of sunlight hits the blender in our kitchen.
